Food Review: Which Wich

Now that everyone is fascinated by American Franchises opening in U.A.E., it was about time that Which Wich showed up. While Which Wich is pretty similar in concept to the likes of Pot Belly, Charley's Grilled Subs and Subway, it has a lot more to offer. Another added benefit of Which Wich is that it is more organized than its competitors.

Located at the side of City Tower 1 (Near Crowne Plaza Hotel) on Sheikh Zayed Road, Which Wich has to offer a range of sandwiches or as some would say Subs, along with some smooth Milk Shakes and freshly baked cookies.

As you enter Which Wich, you can see an area on the left hand side with a huge list of sandwich options and numbers from 1 to 10 on it. Each number indicates a category of sandwich. For example: 1 is for Turkey, 4 is for Chicken while 6 is for Vegetarian. Under each category, a number of sandwich options are listed. There are 5 sandwich options under each category, which gives you a choice of about 50 sandwiches. This means that one cannot complain about the number of sandwiches Which Wich has to offer.

The first step is to pick a brown bag from the number you choose and start ticking off the options one by one. You have to start by choosing from 1 of the 5 sandwich options. After selecting the Chicken Category, I chose Buffalo Chicken from the list which also included Chicken Tikka Salad, Chicken Pesto, Teriyaki Chicken and Chicken.

A few interesting drawings

Once done with this, one has the option to also choose whether they want double cheese or double meat. I didn't choose either. The next step is an important one and it is totally dependent on your choice and appetite at the same time. There are 3 different sizes of wiches to choose from - A small wich is 7 inches in size, a medium wich is 10.5 inches in size and a large wich is 14 inches in size. If you are not interested in having a sandwich, there is also a choice of Bowlwich or Lettucewich (A lettuce wrap).

Since I wasn't too hungry, I opted for a small wich. The next thing I had to make up my mind was on deciding whether to go for a coldwich or a hotwich (a toasted sandwich). I love toasted sandwiches and went for the hotwich.

Choose what you like
After completing these easy steps, it is then time for a difficult step. Why I consider this particular step difficult is because of the number of choices one has. There are more than 10 varieties of cheeses, 10 varieties of spreads and sauces, 3 types of mustards, 3 types of mayos, 6 different dressings, 3 types of onions, more than 10 types of veggies and about 7 Oils and spices to choose from. Which wich offers so much that one would be spoilt for choice.

After ticking off the options, me and my friend handed over the brown packet at the cash counter and paid for my sandwich. Since I wanted something sweet as well, I ordered a brownie. We were asked to take a seat and the staff would bring it to us.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

Our order arrived in about 5-7 minutes. The sandwich was warm and tasted delicious. I loved the chicken and the fresh veggies used in the sandwich. However the best part about the sandwich was the Marinara sauce. The Crisps in the sandwiches added that extra awesomeness to the sandwich.

The staff was generous enough to give us a complementary Double Chocolate Cookie and a Cranberry & White Chocolate Cookie. I loved the freshly baked Double Chocolate Cookie, while the Cranberry & White Chocolate Cookie was good too. The Brownie however was just brilliant. Overall, justice was done to my sweet tooth.

Brownie, Double Chocolate Cookie and Cranberry & White Chocolate Cookie

I must add that I have also tried the Milkshakes at Which Wich on different visits. I loved the Oreo Milkshake and my friend speaks highly of the Vanilla Milkshake. The Milkshakes are thick and filling since it is only available in large size. During other visits and home delivery, I have tried Teriyaki Chicken, Chicken Tikka Salad, Chicken Italiano, Chipotle Chicken and Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwiches. I must say that I was impressed by each of these sandwiches.

On the whole, Which Wich is the perfect place for sandwich and sub lovers. It has a variety to offer like no other and with the Brownie, Cookies and Milkshakes it has to offer, Which Wich deserves a lot more loyal customers than it presently has. Dine in at Which Wich and you will understand why I speak so highly of this place.

Food Review: Mumbai Masti Juice Centre (MMJC)

How many times does it happen that you are hungry but just want to have something different, something Mumbai style. By Mumbai style I mean those sandwiches, juices and other stuff you got back home. All those people who have been to Mumbai will relate to this. If you ever had that craving and didn't know where to go, well Mumbai Masti Juice Centre (MMJC) is the answer to your cravings.

My order (during my first visit) consisted of Mozarella Sticks, Mushroom Mozarella Cheese Pizza, Veg. Paneer Cheese Grill and Pomegranate Juice.

Mozarella Sticks
As I dug into the Mozarella Cheese Sticks, I was sure I was in for a treat. The ooziness of the Cheese and the crispiness of the Cheese sticks was an amazing combination. You would have tried such cheese sticks at a number of places but I can promise you that the dip served at MMJC, gives a totally different experience.

Mushroom Mozarella Cheese Pizza
Next on was Mushroom Mozarella Cheese Pizza. The amount of cheese used on this Pizza ensures that it does not fall under the category of a healthy option but its taste might just help you reduce your guilt. Having tried Italian style pizzas and American style pizzas, I can say that Indian style pizzas might not impress everyone but are worth a try. The Mushroom used in the Pizza, is fresh and tastes good.

Veg. Paneer Cheese Grill
Veg. Paneer Cheese Grill was probably the best thing I ordered from MMJC. I must say that the grill sandwich is delicious. Fresh veggies used, a crisp bread and oozy cheese means that you are in for a treat.  This sandwich gets a thumbs up from my side.

Pomegranate Juice
Who doesn't enjoy a glass of fresh juice every now and then? MMJC does have some good range of fresh juices. Pomegranate, Sugar Cane (my personal favourite), Watermelon, Orange, Carrot are a few from the list of fresh juices MMJC has to offer. The Pomegranate juice I tried on this instance was good but not the best I have had. I think the season must be kept in mind when ordering a juice.

Overall MMJC is worth a try for its sandwiches and Sugar Cane juice. A place you can visit when you want to grab a bite and are looking for a place that is not sophisticated.

Food Review: Yalla Momos

I have been a fan of momos eversince I tried them in Delhi. It was about time that I figured out a place in Dubai that served some mouth watering flavours. After a long wait, one of my friends suggested Yalla Momos and that was it; I had to try it.

It is always good to eat with a couple of friends since it gives you the option to try a couple of items on the menu. As we were pretty hungry, we placed our order right up. We started with the Spinach & Cottage Cheese momos, Chicken momos, Shrimp momos, Vegetable momos and Cheese Mushroom momos (all steamed).

Vegetable Momos
The Cheese mushroom momos were soft, steamed to perfection and yummy at the same time. The other vegetarian options, that is, Spinach & Cottage Cheese momos and Vegetable momos were good too. However, I would rate the Cheese Mushroom ones over the other two.

Another thing that needs a mention here is that Momos are healthy and don't take much time in cooking. This means that you won't have to wait long to get a bite of your favourite Momos.

Shrimp Momos
Moving on to the non-vegetarian options, I would like to point out that while the Shrimp momos are a bit different, however the Chicken momos steal the show. One's we started gulping these delicious momos, we couldn't stop.

The red chili tomato sauce served with the momos adds that extra flavour to it. The sauce is not too spicy but goes perfectly with the soft steaming Momos. As you dip the Momos in the sauce and put them in your mouth, the flavour of the filling and the flavour of the sauce come together to give you that taste which is just Momolicious.

Chicken Momos
With 6 Momos served per plate, the meal looks sufficient but remember Momos are light and tasty. It is rather difficult to just have a few plates and be satisfied.

As we couldn't resist, we ordered a few more plates of momos. This time our order included the Nutri momos and Cottage Cheese Momos, along with the Chicken ones. Two more good flavours, that are truly worth a try.

Yalla Momos gets a thumbs up from my side and given the price charged per plate, I would say it can't get better than this. If you do get time whilst enjoying the yummy momos, try reading the funny stuff on the wall, like "6 reasons Momo is better than Love" and have a good laugh.

Food Review: Max Burger

If I asked you about burger joints in Dubai, I would get answers like Mcdonald's, Burger King, Hardees etc. I guess its time to add another name to that list - Max burger. The relatively new burger joint in town is a well known brand name in its home country Sweden and neighbouring nations (Norway and Denmark).

Serving burgers since 1968
Max claims to have Sweden's tastiest burgers since 1968. This was a good enough reason for me to try it. My order was the Grand Deluxe Spicy Chicken Meal.

Grand Deluxe Spicy Chicken Burger
As I was pretty hungry, without wasting time I started with the burger. The patty used in the burger was crispy and tasted good. I wouldn't rate it as spicy, even though the name says so. Ample amount of fresh lettuce, mayonnaise, tomato and a soft bun ensured a quality burger.

French Fries with Sea Salt
Moving on to the Fries, the fries were crisp and better than many burger joints I have been to. The salt used with the fries at Max burger is Sea salt. The main difference between sea salt and table salt is that depending on the water source, the salt has minerals and elements in it. These minerals add flavour to the salt.

Max Original Dip
Now what is special about Max burger? The answer is their dips. Max burger offers 8 different types of dips from Max Original Dip and Mayonnaise to Sweet Mustard and Green & Garlic. I got the chance to try the Max Original Dip. The dip was good and it was the highlight of the meal for me. I would surely go back to Max to try a few more varieties of their dips.

A Soft Drink to go along
Overall my meal was a satisfying one. A good burger, decent fries and a good soft drink to go along ensured that I did not ask for anything more. Even though Max has entered the UAE market a bit late, I suppose they should do fine given what they have to offer.
